TWO NIGHTS AGO I STAYED UP UNTIL 3AM WATCHING OLD INTERVIEWS OF ANGELINA JOLIE FROM THE LATE 90'S. I WAS BLOWN AWAY BY HOW DIFFERENT SHE WAS BACK THEN, SHE WAS OUT OF CONTROL - THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE OF HER CLEAN-CUT PERSONA THESE DAYS. I AM OBSESSED WITH THE OLD ANGIE. I WANT TO GO BACK IN TIME AND BE BEST FRIENDS WITH THAT GIRL. GO YOUTUBE IT AND YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH HER WILD SIDE TOO. ANYWAY, AN IMDB STALK IS WHAT FOLLOWED MY YOUTUBE RANT, AND I DISCOVERED SHE WON HER FIRST GOLDEN GLOBE FOR HER PERFORMANCE IN A MOVE TITLED 'GIA'. LAST NIGHT I WATCHED GIA IN COMPLETE AWE OF BOTH ANGELINA'S PERFORMANCE, AND THE INCREDIBLE BIOGRAPHY OF GIA CARANGI.

THE TRAGIC STORY OF A 17-YEAR-OLD REBEL FROM PHILADELPHIA, WHO OVERNIGHT BECAME THE MOST RENOWNED AND SOUGHT AFTER MODEL IN THE WORLD. IN AN ERA OF BLONDE, CAUCASIAN, WELL BEHAVED MODELS, GIA'S ETHNIC LOOKS, AS WELL AS HER 'MIDDLE FINGER TO SOCIETY' ATTITUDE INTRIGUED THE FASHION INDUSTRY LIKE NO GIRL BEFORE HER. GIA WAS OPENLY GAY, AND IN A WAY, MADE BEING A LESBIAN FASHIONABLE. CUT A LONG STORY SHORT, GIA'S HEROIN ADDICTION ULTIMATELY LEAD TO HER DOWNFALL. SHE CONTRACTED AID'S BY SHARING AN INFECTED NEEDLE, AND BECAME ONE OF TH FIRST WOMEN IN THE USA TO DIE FROM THE DISEASE. SHE WAS 26. NOT ONE MEMBER OF THE FASHION INDUSTRY ATTENDED HER FUNERAL. HER LEGENDARY, BUT SHORT LIFE, IS BEAUTIFULLY PORTRAYED IN THE MOVIE TITLED 'GIA', AND I RECOMMEND YOU ALL TAKE A LOOK AT THE AMAZING, EMOTIONAL, AND EXTREMELY INTENSE BIOGRAPHY OF THIS WOMAN WHO IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE WORLD'S FIRST SUPERMODEL.

In Memory of Gia Carangi 1960 – 1986

I totally agree, I've always loved Angelina Jolie, but lately think she has become a bit boring. I suppose she has grown up, but I miss her edge.
I actually went on youtube and saw a lot of old interviews after reading your post:)

I've not seen the film, because I get so depressed from seeing depressing films(i.e. requiem for a dream), but maybe i should give it a shot...?

Exactly, I completely agree with you - now she resembles a blank canvas, whereas before her personality was bursting at the seams. I hope the old Angelina surfaces again someday!

Ahh Requiem for a Dream is super depressing, i got so grossed out in the car scene, when he shot up into his infected arm - fucking ew! But Gia has more happy moments than sad moments, its exciting and enthralling, but raw. There are depressing moments, but I promise its worth it! X
